Episode 5: "Murder in Paradise"

Synopsis: Its been a crazy couple of weeks for the Fenris with rescue missions and exploration assignments and in celebration of their third month of being a crew, they're all kicking back. They are all on Shore Leave on the planet Idriis, enjoying the sun and the beaches and while some have ulterior motives about the tropical getaway, no one could have anticipated what things would go terribly wrong. One moment everything is upbeat and exciting and the next, someone is murdered and all signs point to a member of the Fenris.

The laws for murder on Idriis varies from lifetime imprisonment to death, depending on the station and nature of the murder and if they think they are remorseful. In this case, the law calls for death and yet the rest of the crew of the Fenris isn't convinced that their fellow crew member would do such a thing. So, it's up to the crew of the Fenris to find all of the clues that they can to figure out how the murder happened, why, and who did it...

Objectives:

- Shore Leave [Everyone, have fun until I make the murder happen, okay? Pretty much anything goes, so go nuts with it.]
- A murder occurs with an NPC, native witness [Someone let me know if you want to play that person in the OCC--first come, first serve.]
- Ensign Dolliver is accused of murder [Also an NPC that is up for grabs, but can't be the same person playing the witness--also first come, first serve.]
- Visit Ensign Dolliver for her side of the story [Lillian, Marlo, Gabe, Taylor]
- Lillian and the Senior Staff get involved because they believe Ensign Dolliver to be innocent [Omega Squad and Senior Staff]
- Look over the murder weapon for more clues [Engineering/Science]
- Check in with the other Medical personnel to pin point exact cause of death [Medical]
- Find clues to prove Ensign Dolliver's innocence [Security/Omega Squad]
- Decide if Ensign Dolliver is innocent or not and do the big reveal

Lillian smiled as Taylor stroked and rested his hand on her stomach, determined to feel the baby kick since she was 24 weeks along now and felt it herself just the other day. It seemed a little late for a human woman to be just feeling the kicking outside of the belly, bit Lillian was a Betazoid and the gestation period was ten months. Besides, it was around the time she'd felt Sareth and Salyn had been able to feel him as well, and Taylor hadn't had this kind of time to spend with his wife in a while and wanted to feel it too--wanted to feel his kid move around.

It had been a couple of weeks since they had been stranded on Kadoshe II, and since then, the Fenris had been doing a lot. They'd gotten several exploration assignments--some of which, went terribly wrong--and had even done two rescues. Now they were en route to Idriis, the tropical planet that Lillian and Taylor were going to be married on in three days and it was time for everyone on the ship to relax and have some shore leave.

It was so hard to imagine sometimes that she was marrying Taylor and yet she knew that this had been a long time coming for them...at least from their perspective. She still had yet to meet Taylor's parents, but she wanted so desperately for them to come to the wedding so that she could and so that she could prove that she was good enough for Taylor, and she really wanted her family to be there. Even though they were having a second wedding right before their honeymoon on Betazed for her family, and also for her--she knew Taylor never would have agreed to a naked wedding if it hadn't meant this much to her.

"It's not kicking right now," Taylor whined, but it was a play whine and Lillian laughed, kissing her husband to be tenderly and shrugging.

"Perhaps the baby is sleeping like we should be." Lillian suggested as she nuzzled his nose with her own and then nipped at his lips. "I'm going to find out the sex of the baby today but I'm not telling you about it--I know that you want to be surprised and I will let it be a surprise because for once, I want you to have a happy surprise. I, however, am very curious."

Taylor chuckled and looked her in the eye. "I'll know come the baby shower when you get all of those gender specific gifts. Pretty sure I know the difference between blue for a boy and pink for a girl."

"I don't know if I'm getting one of those, just like I'm not getting another bachelorette party--and I won't tell anyone. Besides, I think it'll be nice for the baby to get something other than clothes. Onesies are universal, as are binkies and stuffed animals and when the baby is born then you and I can do the Mom and Dad thing and pick out the clothes." Lillian suggested as she held Taylor's hand on her belly. "Besides, most people spring for black, white, red and green when they don't have blue and pink in the mix and those are our colors."

Red was Lillian's color for sure and green to her represented Taylor and the marines and black and white were simply colors that matched everything. Besides, Lillian wanted to pick out the majority of the outfits herself and doubted that a baby shower would come her way. Everyone was invited to the wedding practically, and they were going to be on Idriis for almost 4 days because of the wedding so Lillian felt like no one owed her anything--she was making the ship attend kind of.

"We rendezvousing with your parents?" Taylor asked Lillian as he cupped her face and kissed her lovingly, momentarily detouring from his goal to feel the baby kick.

Lillian nodded and then shook her head and then shrugged. "We'll be there before them, but my family and Marlo's family are coming by shuttle. Should be here by tomorrow night. Wow...we're getting married in three days, Taylor...three days."

"Can't wait," he responded with a wink.

He rested her hand on the nape of her neck, cupping her face and kissing her deeply, thumb running along the chain of his dog tags. That made his heart practically leap out of his chest as he stroked the metal with his skin, feeling like he was so lucky to be with the woman that had been holding onto him and keeping him in her heart since the war...the war when he had given her those dog tags. Lillian smiled and pecked his lips, turning over and snuggling into him, feel his heartbeat against her back as he held her close and put his arm over her stomach protectively.

"Lets sleep a few more hours and then when we wake up, I'll make breakfast for the three of us--four if you count the baby." Lillian told Taylor as she closed her eyes and held his hand.

Taylor nodded and closed his eyes too, kissing his wife to be's neck softly. "By noon we should be in orbit and beaming down...I'm ready for a bit of relaxation."

"Me too," Lillian agreed as she let herself start to drift back off to sleep, Sareth slumbering peacefully in his own bed as Taylor began to go back to sleep himself.

Alyssa groaned as she got out of bed and went to let in whoever was at her door. She kept thinking of all the different ways she could kill or seriously injure this person.

"This better be good." She spoke to herself as she opened the door.

She was shocked to see Lydia standing there, but recovered enough to motion her to come in.

"Are you alright? Did Darien doing something stupid again?" Alyssa asked concerned.

"No, I just talked with him. He's fine and is coming to see us." Lydia answered, taking a seat.

Alyssa knew that there was more to this than Lydia was letting on. "So who else is coming with him?"

"No one. He hasn't seen you in a while, and he wants to spend time with you." Lydia answered, trying not to smile.

"That's great." Alyssa replied, taking a seat across from her. "Now, who the hell is coming with him? I know you well enough to know that you've been planning something and it better not involve my parents."

Lydia acted offended. "I haven't been planning anything, and no one is coming with him. As far as I know, he hasn't found a girl yet."

"Don't be offended. I know you." Alyssa replied annoyed. "If my parents show up, I'm not speaking to either you. You need to learn to leave somethings alone, especially when you're asked to."

"You shouldn't say things you don't mean." Lydia teased, in attempts to light the mood.

"You wake me up to just tell me that Darien is coming for a visit. Then you sit there in attempt to tease me. What's going on?" Alyssa asked, trying not to just throw her cousin out and get more sleep.

"Fine. What's going on between you and Kalen?" Lydia asked back.

Alyssa stared at her. "What... never mind. We're dating. Why do you want to know?"

"Why didn't you tell me? It's good that you're dating, an-" Lydia began to answer.

"Stop. Just stop." Alyssa interrupted, getting up. "I can't believe this. You probably told Darien and my parents because you're so buddy-buddy with them."

"I wouldn't tell our family about a rumor. Thank you for confirming it though." Lydia responded, remaining calm. "So stop overreacting."

Lydia wondered if this Kalen would be willing to help fix Alyssa's relationship with her parents. Something that she'll have to ask about.

"DON'T BE TELLING ME HOW I SHOULD BE FEELING!" Alyssa yelled, knowing that her cousin was probably right but it was early and she was very annoyed. "You have no right to be messing with my personal life. I know you're thinking about asking Kalen to help with whatever plan you and Darien have come up with. I'm telling you for the last time: if my parents show up, i'm never speaking to you or any of the family ever again."

Alyssa was mad and figured that this day couldn't possibly get worse. Lydia was now annoyed, and couldn't believe that her cousin had gotten this paranoid.

"I simply asked you to stop overreacting. I don't have any plans that involve you and/or your parents." Lydia lied. "Darien is coming to see both of us. Plus he knows a few of the crew members, and wouldn't mind seeing them again. I thought this would make you happy, not paranoid."

"Paranoid? You think I'm paranoid. This isn't me being paranoid. This is me angry with my cousin, who can't seem to stay out of something that doesn't concern her." Alyssa yelled again, knowing that getting this angry was not good.

"You're both right now. I'm staying out of it." Lydia lied again. "I do wish that you would tell me what happened, but I know that you're not going to. You'll fix your relationship with your parents when you're ready. I'm here for you if you need it. I just got my brother and my parents back together, so I can help if you want it."

Lydia knew that she was lying about staying out of it, but she didn't want this to get out of hand. She didn't think that her cousin would hurt yet that didn't stop her from having the fear. She was fully aware that her cousin could take if it came down to it.

"Get out." Alyssa spoke through clutched teeth.

Lydia starred at her, not believing what she heard. "What?"

"Get out." Alyssa spoke again. "I want you out of my quarters. I suggest that you stay away from me for the next few days. I won't be taking responsibility for anything that happens."

"I'm going." Lydia replied, getting up and hurrying out.

Alyssa went over to her couch and punched it. She needed out and a good distract. She hadn't seen Kalen and decided to go see him in her pajamas.

||Gabe's Quarters

After lieing awake for almost an hour, Gabe gently slid out of bed. He kissed Marissa's forehead and made sure she was still asleep there was no reason to wake her just yet, afterall it was him who couldn't get back to sleep. He pulled on a pair of trousers and padded across the room, ordering himself a cup of tea from the replicator before sitting down at the desk in front of his weapons collection.

He leaned back and put his foot on the desk as he switched on a PADD he pulled from under the desk. He rubbed his eyes and started his tea. The PADD's screen showed the information he'd compiled on the Ion Storm generator T'Vala had grabbed for him 2 weeks before. Since their transfer to the Fenris they'd dealt with Doclin more then gabe would have liked and each time they did he found himself disliking the man more and more. First his ship and his capture of Lillian, Bakel and Taylor, his actions marooning Marissa and her team on the planet below, his placing spies on the ship, all while Gabe hoped he could keep himself together long enough to keep the mission together. Then the faked virus bomb on Betazed, most recently his Experimental 'Zombie' Lab and artifical Ion Storms on Kadoshe II. This Doclin was smart and he must have had smart people working for him, that's what worried him. There had to be a reason he seemed to be targetting the Fenris and her crewbut right now that wasn't what Gabe cared about, right now all Gabe wanted to do was stop him and that meant understanding him.

"So where did you get these T37 control chips from?" He said quietly to himself. He knew about the chips and he also knew that they were, at least at the moment little more then an idea on PADD somewhere, except he'd pulled 4 of them from the Storm Generator. With 5 of those generators it meant Doclin had at least 20 of the control chips that didn't actually exist.

The light from the PADD's screen flashed across his face as he reviewed the information of their latest run-in with Doclin again. He went through Lillian and Taylor's reports on the zombielike experiment subjects and shook his head.
He hated to think what kind of person it took to rob people of everything they had, sanity included just to see what would happen. What was his endgame and more importantly how did anyone stop a man that seemed to always be 2 steps ahead?

|| Idriis
|| Divion Island
|| 0649 Local Time
(Rated R for the kinky impaired)

Five hours forward from the rest of the Fenris crew’s beam-down point, on the equator, under a clear blue sky was the only intelligent-made structure on the island. Under that structure, a large hammock with three figures rustled under white sheets that were treaded into the edges of the suspended bed. The three officers were enjoying the comfortable sensation of skin-on-skin contact. Beyond that, it was nothing but the ocean breeze and the fabric that shielded their sweaty bodies from full exposure to the elements. As one young man rolled over and caught his breath in much the same way a runner in a marathon would after winning a gold medal, the other was brought into the attention of T’Vola. Her slender jaw opened as she moved her body faster on top of him. Ensign Billy Gheller was locked in the young Vulcan’s embrace as his best friend Sean Daniels seemed to be somewhat telepathically connected to the both of them and their actions because every time he yelled out in pure pleasure, or if T’Vola shuddered he yelled out, or he shuddered as well. T’Vola reached out with her hands as she moved her body faster. Her arm emerged from out of the white sheets and pressed her fingers onto Lieutenant Daniels’ face.

She felt her muscles tighten at the same time Billy jolted underneath her and they all pulled in and held onto each other tightly for a few minutes. T’Vola lie where she was. Billy didn’t argue with her decision of where to lay as he rested comfortably in the warm embrace. The warm breeze under the shade did little to cool them down but resting felt nice. He felt Sean’s arm slide underneath his head to allow for more comfort for the both of them as their lover, a Vulcan damage control specialist took turns kissing them.

“So how long have you known each other?” Lieutenant Daniels asked as they let the wind rock the hammock that shielded their bodies. T’Vola carefully crawled from Billy to Sean. As she eased down both guys seemed to react in a twitch at the same time. She found it amusing how hard it was for them to concentrate.

“Since academy. We – transferred to the Fenris together,” Billy said. T’Vola’s slender fingers ran through his hair she kissed Sean’s neck while they talked. She personally found it interesting to let the guys talk while she concentrated on loving them. It was the least she could do in return for the gift of good friendships, loving relationships, and, just as equally important, them giving her the gift of not going insane with her condition. With two lovers, it would be harder for her to be too dependant on a source of relief that might not be available. At first, it was hard to convince two males to share a woman, but after a mind meld that helped put their minds at ease with each other – things regarding jealousy, performance anxiety, and self consciousness faded away and they quickly agreed that it would be easy to fall in love with her and even each other to a degree; all without being labeled or thought of as, homosexual. Although, they both agreed that there was no problem with people who are. Despite the situation, they were both straight men who found that loving the same woman at the same time wasn’t a problem as long as they remained open.

And T’Vola loved being open.

“I was here a little before you,” the Lieutenant said as he reached down into a cooler beside the hammock. As he reached, his hands tightened and he felt his toes curl in reaction to the Vulcan’s movements.

“Haha. I felt it too!” Billy said as he laughed and curled into a ball at the same time. While playfully cursing the girl for doing many unmentionable things with the advantage of her Vulcan strength. She appeared to be sitting on top of Sean, innocently doing nothing but they both knew better due to the various telepathic links and for Sean, the physical link between them. Billy had to catch his breath again as Sean looked up to T’Vola. She returned the gaze with her dark eyes and that hint of a grin on her thin lips as she silently observed him with the best pseudo-innocent expression she could muster.

“Let the Lieutenant get a drink... That’s an order,” the Lieutenant said jokingly.
“You do not appear to be in uniform, sir.” T’Vola stated the obvious as she concentrated on getting reactions out of him using Vulcan discipline that she learned from her family before being exiled. Billy yelled out in reaction because he was feeling the exact same things. Once a Vulcan and a mate come together, there is a bond that can only be broken with time and distance. She had to choose her mates carefully due to that reason.

Sean fought through it and pulled several bottles of water out from a cooler.
“Oh thank god,” Billy said as his mating partner handed him a bottle.
“Thank you,” T’Vola said as she began to drink.

Sean took the bottle away from his lips in response to T’Vola continuing to move her slender frame under the sheets. It was comfortable for all three of them.
“So... How long?” Billy said.
“About a few months. The Fenris has a good crew, you’ll like them. They aren’t too stuck up unlike some crews I’ve had to deal with,” Sean said.
“My first posting here, same with her.”

“I’m just glad we didn’t have to go down to that planet. I would take that horrible EVA we had to perform last week over being planet side any day,” Sean said. T’Vola kissed him softly and leaned up. She crawled over one person and then laid on Billy, kissing him

“You both performed agreeably under adverse circumstances,” T’Vola said as her body made the sheets mimic the waves of the shore around them. Billy gasped and forgot what he was talking about for a moment as he fought for concentration.

“I know but... Zombies? Seriously?!” Billy said between breaths.
“I wouldn’t think about it,” Sean tried to burry his head into the fabric of the hammock to escape the pleasure. “We’re – on – vacation...”
“That’s obvious! What do you think our parents will do when they find out we’re in in a tri-relationship?” Billy reached his hands out of the sheets and placed them on T’Vola’s shoulders.
“Earth does not exile people for their social, political, and personal status,” T’Vola said. “Unlike Vulcan, Earth does have it’s more evolved sensibilities despite what my home world would leave you to believe.”
“Do you miss your parents?” Sean asked.
“I don’t think she want’s to think about her parents right now...”

Even T’Vola giggled as her lovers laughed.

She did nod, however.
“I do wonder what they might be up to. It is not as much the banishment from Vulcan that saddens me. It’s the unanswered questions.” T’Vola stopped talking because she sensed Billy’s shaking she held him tight as Sean held his hand under the sheets. She used her free hand to bring Billy’s mouth to hers as he yelled in mid-kiss. She pulled her head back and smiled lovingly at Billy as he closed his eyes.

The water bottle hit the sand underneath them and unloaded it’s contents which made a river in the sand while T’Vola held Billy close. Sean handed him his water once T’Vola snapped him back into reality again with her reply to Sean.

“What I really want to know is – if it was pressure from the people that forced them to disown me, or if they really felt that they wanted to,” T’Vola said. “It wasn’t a social problem. It’s medical and all it requires is a room with many breakable things or a lover to overcome.” She smiled to Sean and then to Billy who was still in his love-induced daze. “... of course, in this case, I mean, Lovers.” She smiled sweetly at the both of them. “If it was their choice to exile me simply to ignore my bad luck, then I would be very sad.”

“It’s a lot of emotion for a Vulcan,” Sean commented.
“I was practically raised on Starfleet Academy grounds,” T’Vola reminded Sean. “I’m full of emotion. I grew up on Earth. Aren’t you glad?” She crawled over to Sean while Billy rested.

“I’m still evaluating the situation!” Sean pleaded as T’Vola grinned and loomed once again on top of him. “If I die from pleasure, tell my family I was in battle or something.”

“Oh – you’re in battle...” The Vulcan pushed her hands on Sean’s shoulder’s and pinned him tightly to the fabric of the hammock.

||USS Fenris
||Kalen's Quarters
||April 9, 2388
||0708

Alyssa was in need of some time with Kalen. She didn't care that it might be early for him. She hoped that he'd forgive her and just allow her to stay, so she pressed the door chime.

Kalen had gotten a night shift and was sleeping well until his chime rang. He groaned slightly trying to rouse himself from his slumber. He stumbled to the door not bothering with a shirt or real pants, whoever it was would just have to face the horror of his disheveled look. He opened the door to see Alyssa and smiled softly. He gazed at her, "Good morning Alyssa. Sorry about the mess." He chuckled and waved her in, rooting around for a shirt.

He gazed back at her, "Come in, sit down. Still don't have a couch but maybe I'll get it done now that we have a little bit of shore leave. But you can still sit on the bed." He sat down and grabbed the shirt nearest his bed and pulled it on. "What can I do for you?"

Alyssa came and sat down, noticing that he was sleeping and probably still needed some. "Keep me from killing my cousin. I'm seriously attempted and I'm going to kill her."

She decided just to be straight forward and hoped that he would distract her. She didn't care how he did it, just needed him to do it. "Sorry for waking you. I've had an interesting morning. And good morning."

He smiled softly and nodded, "Okay I suppose I could keep you here for a little while. Distract you a little bit." He winked and laughed, sitting down on the bed next to her. He leaned in and kissed her lightly on the lips, "But you'll have to give my mind a moment or so to wake up so I can think up something fantastic for us to do as a distraction." He yawned and stretched rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "What happened? Do you want to talk about it?"

She sighed. "I'm really sorry for waking you. I guess I can talk about it. Lydia knows about me and you dating. She's told Darien, her brother, about us and most likely my parents. But that's not the best part." She had to breathe, and wished she had a tennis ball to throw. "Darien is coming for a visit, which I'm happy about. The problem is that he's not coming by himself. No, that would't be fun. He's bring my parents along. Lydia, of course, is denying the part about my parents. What she keeps forgetting is that I know when she's lying. So my parents and Darien will be visiting." She got up and began pacing. "I've thought of sixteen different ways of killing Lydia with a paperclip. I just need to find a paperclip."

She knew that being this mad was bad, but she couldn't help. She had been woken from her sleep and lied to by one out of two family members that she talked to. She was just having a hard time believe that Lydia and Darien would try to fix her relationship with her parents. There was nothing to fix and she believe that.

He shrugged and laughed, "It's okay Alyssa, now that I'm up I'm up, it'll just take me a minute to dream about well.." He coughed, "Something else." He grinned a cocky grin and shook his head. He could use a shower but right now wasn't the time, she needed him and he was there. He shook his head, well the secret was out then. Not that the rest of the ship didn't know. He stroked her hair, "It was bound to happen sooner or later, the finding out part." He pondered for a moment. They were going to be afforded shore leave. "We could go down on the planet if you wanted to. Escape for a while. Do you know when they'll be arriving?"

He watched her walk and couldn't stop but think how cute she was when she was mad. It was very endearing but he knew she was really mad so he couldn't tell her that. "Well if you kill her as a member of the senior staff I'll have to report it and then we'll have to spend all of our quality time in the brig instead of in my quarters. That wouldn't be hardly any fun at all." He smiled widely, "What do you want to do about it?"

She stopped and looked at him. She knew he meant it as a joke but she couldn't help wanting to do it. She was curious if anyone had tried sleeping with someone in the brig. "I don't know when they'll be here. I'm was too mad to find out. I'm still too mad. Wait, you mention dreaming. Curious as to what you were dreaming. True that the brig wouldn't be as fun as your quarters. Lydia just can't leave things alone." Then she remember that her cousin knew about them. "Please don't side with Lydia or agree to do anything with her. I know she's going to talk to you, well try to at least."

She walked over to him, and kissed him. "Escaping would be wonderful. I'm sure you being able to sleep more would be wonderful too. This is where I wish you had couch or a comfortable chair. Since my family is showing up, I could have them bring you couch or chair from Earth." She smiled at the thought, and knew that it would be funny to see. "We can do whatever, as long as it's distracting." She kissed him again, and felt more calm.

He smiled, "Well then it'll be a surprise. I suppose that will indeed make life more exciting." He laughed and lay down on the bed pulling her down to him for a moment, just wrapping his arms around her to hold her and lay in peace together, playing with her hair. It was very amusing, but he wouldn't look nearly as good as she did with hair that long. He chuckled and pondered but decided to keep it simple, "Most of it was about you actually." He smiled and nodded.

He wondered if they would really bring him a couch. Not that he couldn't get one on his own. But that certainly would be amusing. He could imagine that, carrying it all the way to his quarters. He shook his head and laughed. "What do you need a chair for? There's nothing you can do on a chair that you can't do on a bed. Well..maybe not sit comfortably. But oh well. I'll requisition one." He kissed her back and held it for a moment, enjoying it with her.

She laughed a little, got up, and kissed him. "I dreamed about you too, and you won't be able to get me to tell you about it." She laid back down, and smiled. "I agree that what you can do in a bed, can also be done in a chair. Sometimes, you just need a chair. I've got a couch and a chair. I use it when I read or just was to curl up and cry. Chair is useful. Just get a couch. You probably don't even need a chair."

He laughed at the thought of her dreams and was intrigued and enticed but as she said, he probably wouldn't be able to get her to tell him about it. He shrugged his shoulders and smiled at her, kissing her forehead. "Yes ma'am. One couch coming right up." He would get one replicated and put together that week. Or maybe even today if he could manage it. "Do you want to go planetside, escape the thought of your parents?"

"Am I going by myself or are you coming with me?" She asked looking up at him. She knew that he would come, but still wanted to see what he would do. "Plus I know that you wouldn't mind some more sleep and possibly a shower. If you want to, you could also be putting the couch you're thinking about replicating together. By the way, I can help you with that." She smiled wondering what he was thinking.

He smiled at her, "I would come with you of course. I wouldn't abandon you to the world below, I would come with you if I could. We will all have leave so that won't be a problem." He grinned at her, "There are far more exciting things to do planetside than sleep I'm sure. Though the shower.." He looked towards the other side of his quarters, "Well I might get one of those now. You're welcome to stay." He winked and grinned widely, "Well we will get it together I'm sure."

She kissed him. "If you need to take a shower, then go ahead. I'm going to sleep in your bed. Which by the way is very comfortable." She kissed him again, and grinned. "I like that we're able to be together and not have to work around our schedules. We need more of this, or at least I need more of it." She kissed him again. "I'm going to stop now, and let you decide as to what you're going to do." She smiled and hoped that he would stay in bed; if not, she'd at least of his pillow.

He returned her kiss and smiled softly, "I just may at that." He leaned forward brushing his lips up her cheek before he sat up and took off his shirt again. He wondered why he had put it on in the first place. He didn't really need it. He was pulled back in by her kisses, returning them. "I love spending time with you Alyssa, I would give up anything for more of it so feel free to wake me up more frequently." He grinned and wrapped his arms around her, "You make the decision easy though." He kissed her passionately, holding her close. There would always be more time for a shower.

She returned his kiss, and smiled. "I was wondering why you put a shirt on, then I remembered that you're a gentleman." She kissed him again, then pulled back. "Are you okay with this? I don't want to push you or force you into anything that you're not comfortable doing." She was nervous and a bit tired, along with her subsiding angry that could fire back up at any moment. She had a hard time keeping her emotions in check, but she was trying not to rush into anything. She knew Kalen's history and her own. She didn't want to make the same mistake twice. "Sorry for sounding like a dude. I just want us to be comfortable... since I know our histories." She sighed. "You're going to be meeting my parents when they show up. You'll be meeting my dad." She shook her head already hearing the conversation her dad would have with him. "I wonder if there's a way to keep you from meeting them. I'm going to be looking into that, even if you're willing to meet them."

He nodded, "I had forgotten that it wasn't absolutely necessary, especially if we're alone together. But yes, it was for the sake of courtesy. Not that you probably don't like things better this way." He laughed and grinned cheekily at her. He thought for a moment and held her gaze for a moment, "I was worried about going too fast, I won't deny that. But I care so much about you Alyssa, I'm willing to sacrifice whatever I need to just to spend a few more minutes with you. It's not that I'm uncomfortable, I just wanted us both to be ready. We're adults and I wanted to come to the decision together." He nodded, with their pasts it was understandable. A lot of his loves had a way of turning to dust so he wanted to be careful. But with her, everything seemed perfect. And he knew that no matter what, he wouldn't ever let anything happen to her. And he wouldn't leave her. He kissed her just once more and tried to express all the emotion he felt, leaning in to the kiss. After a moment he pulled back once more, laughing slightly about the comments about her parents. "Well like I said, we can try to escape if you want to. We can't desert of course and I wouldn't want to. But we can take the largest amount of shore leave feasible if you want. Try to avoid the situation. But if we can't we can't. And if we see your parents together that's what our fate had in store for us. We'll deal with it together, I won't leave your side." He cuddled up against her and hugged her, "Though your father will probably chew me out to test my mettle. It's a man thing." He grinned.

She laughed. "I know, but my father happens to be very good. Plus he will bring up a past relationship that you'll probably need to know about, but I don't want to tell you because it sucked. We're just not going to be opening that box right now." She kissed him softly. She knew that he had to know about her being married once, but she really couldn't handle that right now. "I know you won't leave, but that may change after you meet my parents. My father is mild compared to my mother, who will rip you apart and eat you. She rarely shows her approval. Explains why I got disowned. This really isn't a happy topic." She breathed, to attempt to organize her thoughts better. Even with her past relationships, which normally ended with her having to start over somewhere, she felt more like herself with him. Which scared her yet gave her peace. It was weird feeling this way. She knew that he meant ever word, and was grateful that he knew her father would chat with him. "Glad to know that we're not rushing. It's a very good possibility that we'll run into my parents when we get back from shore leave. Lydia probably has this all planned out. We need a new topic. So what kind of couch are you thinking about replicating? Or are you in more of let's talk about us?" She wanted to not talk about her parents. "There's also the we can just not talk, and um be us. I kind of don't know what I'm talking about right now. Even without a shower, you smell good."

He smiled softly, "Well then I will make sure that my worth is well counted in his book. I would hate to be a disappointment." He nodded at her next comment and let it slide. If she wanted to talk about it, she'd talk about it when she wanted to talk about it. He shook his head, "I doubt it will change, I don't think there's anything that could willingly pull me away from you." He smiled, "I love blondes." He grinned and laughed merrily, enjoying his own joke. He smiled softly, "Well I will do my best to make sure she knows that she won't want to eat me." He pointed his thumbs at himself, "Meal for one." And she was his one, he knew that. He hoped they could go the distance, but he imagined all relationships started out with people hoping they could make it together. "Oh I'm sure she does, she seems crafty enough. I'd expect an ambush if I were us. Hmmm..how does one avoid a well placed ambush one sees coming but isn't sure from where?" He thought about it, "I should ask Taylor, he's a marine and has lived long enough to have survived ambushes like this. If your mother is trying to tear me up and eat me might as well treat it militarily..well without the weapons at least." He chuckled softly, "Well if I was going to have a chair I would have a high back 16th Century English chair upholstered in red satin that I could turn slowly in and look menacing whilst being completely comfortable. But a couch?" He shrugged his shoulders, "Something we can sit on together I suppose is the only necessity. You're the girl, aren't you the one who is supposed to care what the furniture looks like?" He smiled and kissed her, "I'll talk about whatever you want to talk about. We can talk about us and where we want to go." He shook his head, "Of course I smell good, but you smell better." He trailed a line of kisses from her lips down her neck, "And taste even better."

She kissed him. "Thank you. If you're able to get my mother's approval, we'll be married within hours rather we want to or not. My mother keeps what she likes. She may not like me, but you still have a chance." She laughed a little. "You don't have to make your worth count. I'll still be with you rather my parents wants us together He smior not that's if my parents don't scare you off. Glad to know that you love blondes. I was thinking about having pink or blue hair, but I guess that's not going to happen." She smiled, and kissed him again. "I should ask Taylor if he would be willing to throw my parents in the brig. It's a good idea. I'm doing it. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I actually care about what the furniture looks like. As long as it's comfortable enough to sleep on, it works." She thought about what they could talk about it. She was still laughing in her head about what if her mother approved and they were force to marry. She was also wondering how much of her hair had to be blonde so that she could put some color in. "Yes, Lydia may be crafty except I'm better at it and I use my craftiness to pull pranks. It's a well used talent that I enjoy having. If you get on the good side of my father, you should ask him about the time he, my mother, and two of their friends got tie-dye. All of them had to have their hair re-dyed to their natural colors. One of my favorite pranks that my parents hated." She kissed him again. "I don't know how I should feel about tasting better. Because we did discuss the possibility of my mother eating you. And yes, I caught that I'm the one who's permitted to eat you." She smiled, and kissed him passionately.

He smiled warmly at her and nodded, "I will do the best that I can." He quirked an eyebrow at her comment about marriage but wasn't totally against the idea. It was a little early in the relationship to consider, but he certainly wouldn't mind. He grinned at her and nodded, "I understand but I would like it if they approved of our relationship at least a little. If not well that's whatever. But I wouldn't mind." He shook his head and kissed her back, "Well maybe we will try that out, and yes it does. If you don't care and I don't care we obviously have to get something gaudy and audacious just because why not?" He pondered her pranks and hoped that he wouldn't have to deal with one of them. Not that it wasn't amusing or anything but he could only imagine with her skills that he would end up in quite the predicament. He laughed at the last little bits of her sentence, "Oh I won't eat you eat you." He grinned, "Good." He leaned into the kiss returning it with equal passion, running his tongue lightly over her lips, sliding his hands down her sides, holding her and pulling her close.

She continued to kiss him back, as one of her hands travel down and tugged on his boxers. She was debating on rather or not she should pull a prank on him. It would be fun to see and yet it could end badly. She also debated about them going too fast. She wanted to, but she wasn't exactly ready to jump... though her body was telling her otherwise. She knew that she would give in to him because it was rare to feel like someone actually wanted her for more than just her looks. She just needed to know that they were on the same page, and that no one was pushing the other to do something that they weren't ready for. She place one hand on his chest and the other on his abs, then push him away a little. "Just so we're both on the same page, you want to do this? You're not replicating a beat up old couch. It's not happening because I won't let you. Yes, you can do whatever style or design you want. It just can't be like you got it from a junk yard. Anyways, are we on the same page?" She bit her lower lip, which was an old habit that her father tried to stop her from doing since it gave her way.

He felt her hands move and was glad of it for a moment, he knew that even if this was probably what most people would consider to be fast, he felt it was right to be here with her. He couldn't think of a place he'd rather be in the world. He wanted her, there was no denying that, his body ached to touch her, to feel her bare skin under his fingertips. As she pulled back for a moment, his brain refocused on what she was saying rather than what he was feeling and where most of his blood was inevitably going to. He looked up into her eyes and reached up his hand to cup her cheek, stroking it with his thumb. He just lay there and smiled up at her taking in all of her beauty. There were so few rare moments in life where one was faced with a perfectly beautiful moment and he wanted to cherish all of his with her. "I won't push you into anything you don't want to do..but if you want to do this then I have no qualms against it. This is a perfect moment and I wouldn't trade it for anything else ever." He just lay there under her hands and smiled. "Well we'll get a nice couch then, I promise. It won't be a piece of junk." He grinned and leaned up to just meet her gaze from only a few inches away running his hands down to her hips he rested them there gently. "Yes, I believe we are on the same page." And with that he leaned in and recaptured her lips with his own.

She couldn’t help kissing him back, even with her mind scream at her to slow down. She wanted this, and frankly she needed this; which caused her brain to reminder what happened the last time. She didn't want to use him. She very much wanted to break that habit. Everything felt different when he was around, and she wanted to keep it that. Wanted this to work. That left her with one choice, and she didn't like it. She pushed him away and got off the bed, walking a few feet away with her back to him. "Sorry. I..." She didn't exactly know how to phrase it. "I want this to work. And I really wish you had something other than your bed." She really didn't want to explain anymore of her past to him. Somethings are meant to be kept secrets, and her using men happened to be one of them. She didn't know how he would response to this, but knew that if he came over, it was all over. She would sleep with him right then and there.

He watched her walk away and nodded his head, understanding. "I want this to work too. I'm sorry if I pushed too far or anything, but I'm willing to take the time to get back to this point if you want." He sidled to the edge of the bed and sat there looking up to her. He chuckled softly, "I promise I'll have a couch tomorrow if it's that important to you." He was confused slightly by her behaviour. One moment they were fine and the next it seemed like she was running scared for her life or her sanity. He couldn't tell which though. Women were harder to read then men, but something was going on he was sure. But he just watched her, unwilling to push her past her comfort zone. "I don't know what to do Alyssa, it isn't like me to go so swiftly or fall so quickly but I know in my heart that whatever decision you want to make, I will support it." He stood slowly but didn't move, "I just want you to be happy, and if that means you want to wait that's what we'll do." He hesitated, "And if you need to talk, I'll be here for that as well." He smiled warmly and waited, watching her intently. He was silly to start falling in love with her so fast, but that was the way it was seeming to going. And he wouldn't change any of that for the world.

She knew she had to do something to make up for her sudden stop. She went over to him and kissed him swiftly. "This is right. I just don't want to use you. And yes, having a couch will make me happy because I'll be less tempted to jump you every time I come and see you. Unless you really don't mind sleeping with each other every time I show up at your quarters. If that be the case, then don't bother getting any furniture." She smiled sweetly. Liking that he was trying to understand without pushing her too far. She wished that members of her family had this quality. "You didn't push. And we will get back to that point." She motioned to the bed. "But not right now. Probably later today or tomorrow. It depends on rather or not my family shows up. I really don't want to deal them, so I may end up camping out at your quarters. Don't worry." She smiled. "I've got a tent and everything." She kissed him again, and smiled. Her attempts to light the mood, probably failed, but she was at least trying to break a bad habit. "Everything is okay. I'm the one who fell first, so you're not alone in this."

He grinned and kissed her back. He nodded and understood what she was saying, "Well I'm not worried about being used, but I fully understand your concern. I have used and been used before so I know what that's like." He smiled softly, "Well if that isn't the greatest incentive to not get a couch I've ever heard. You know you're making this couch thing hard on me." He grinned and laughed warmly. He shook his head and smiled softly to himself. "If it was only that easy, hmm? But we probably shouldn't jump into something like that. Maybe after a month or so I'll get rid of the couch and we can go to just sleeping with one another whenever you show up. Make things exciting." He nodded and stroked her cheek with his finger, "I will be glad to see you every moment that I can. And you don't have to bring a tent. I have a bed." He ran his hand over it, "Just because it's my only piece of furniture doesn't necessarily mean we should have sex on it." He nodded and mussed her hair slightly, "I'm with you if you want me to come. We can face your family together if you want. I don't want you to feel alone in this either."

She laughed, then shrugged. "If I need you, you'll be there. I just want to avoid my family at all costs. My parents would give you a lecture then accuse you of sleeping with me when we're not married. It would be fun to watch with popcorn, but you wouldn't enjoy it. I'm not afraid of the floor, and frankly every inch of your quarters is fair game when it comes to sex." She smiled remembering some good times. "Just because you won't let me put a tent up doesn't mean I'm not bring a sleep bag. You can do whatever you would like with your quarters. Have a couch, don't have a couch. It really doesn't make a difference until you have more than me over here. I don't know how any guy would feel sitting on your bed with you." She laughed. "Now, I want you to take a shower then meet me in the shuttle bay. We'll go have fun on shore." She kissed him; knowing fully well that she would love to join him, but she really wanted to see the planet.

He nodded, knowing that he would of course come to her at her every beck and call. They could avoid her family, though unlikely they could accomplish this fact forever. After all if things continued going so well for them, he was an old fashioned kind of guy. He liked movies made on film of all things! Who would ever even think of that anymore? So of course being old fashioned he would have to speak to her father for his blessing of their possible union somewhere down the road a ways. He laughed, "Well I would probably not enjoy it. But you would, and that would probably be enough for me." He gazed at her and around his quarters and grinned slyly, "Naughty girl.." He licked his lips, entertaining the thought of pressing her against the wall for a moment or three. "I will get a couch, it'll be good for guests and give you more objects to work with for your every inch is fair game notion. I mean the floor can get only so exciting after a while." He pouted for a moment and gave her his puppy dog eyes for a minute after she told him she was going to leave for the moment but nodded, stretching his arms to the ceiling, showing off slightly. "Well I will certainly enjoy having fun with you, Alyssa. I'll be down in ten." He kissed her one last time and walked towards the shower, stripping his few articles of clothing left as he went to let her know what she missed out on by leaving, grinning to himself as he walked away.

She blushed as she checked him out, before heading to her own quarters. She need to leave, and clear head. She had ten minutes to get ready, and that was exactly what she was going to do.

||USS Fenris>Idriis

Once everyone that wanted to be in the first wave had been beamed down to the planet, Lillian found herself changing her shirt for the fourth time and then walking out into the main area of her quarters and smiling at Sareth on Taylor's shoulders. She was too far along in her pregnancy to be able to pick Sareth up and carry him around at the moment, but it warmed her heart to see Taylor so completely ready to be a dad. So she motioned to the door and she headed toward it.

"Our shuttle awaits," Lillian told them.

She had already made a rather big deal about not beaming down--she was technically two people right now and didn't want to be in a transporter at all. Lillian didn't want hers and the baby's molecules are spread around and then put back together, and while she knew that most people thought that ridiculous as she was a doctor and they transported people all the time, Lillian wasn't going to have it. In order to keep her happy, Sareth and Taylor were just going along with it, and they followed her out the door and down the corridor.

"He's in my class," Sareth pointed out from Taylor's shoulder. "We make sculptures together."

Lillian smiled a bit. "I've seen him. Derek?"

"Darryl," Sareth corrected her.

"I was close enough," Lillian said shrugging. "Wait...he's the kid that you made Taylor's birthday mug with, right?"

"Yep--'Best Dad Ever' cup." Sareth said, beaming proudly.

Lillian smiled and took Taylor's hand, the family making their way to the shuttle and enjoying the ride to Idris's surface, Taylor in control. Then it was time to land and fan out and Lillian had a feeling that since they were staying for awhile, Taylor would like to spend time with the guys and getting to know the planet. That was okay with her, because she got him whenever she wanted to and right now she was more than happy to spend time with her son. So she leaned up on the balls of her feet and kissed Taylor gently, nipping at his bottom lip.

"Up to you...we can either have a family lunch, or we can just have dinner and the kid and I can go get ourselves into as much trouble as a pregnant woman and a five year old can get themselves into." Lillian laughed, smiling brightly.

(There, we are on the planet, and a death will happen soonish...have fun posting fluffy things)

With all his strength Taylor found it little effort to carry Sareth around as if he was nothing but a slight increase to his overall mass but that was probably because they were on a nice comfortable ship with the climate that he enjoyed. Apparently the planet below was 'paradise' but to a marine that usually translated as either a scorching desert or an extremely humid jungle and he had dressed to tackle either. Taylor had opted for a white cotton shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the first three buttons opened to reveal the hair on his tanned chest while on the bottom half he wore olive drab combat trousers. He wasn't a shorts and sandals type of person and it showed with the combat boots that he was wearing which usually accompanied the combat or duty uniform he wore. All in all he was looking forward to some proper relaxation time and he felt like he had earned every second spent down on this planet.

“I love that mug.” he said as he walked towards the shuttle. “You really know how to make a man feel old Sareth. I swear I found a grey hair this morning.” With a chuckle he stepped on board the shuttle and ran through the pre-flight checks and the talks with shuttle control. Despite being an all-ground warrior Taylor had broadened his skills and was something of a combat pilot in the making though Kalen would probably run rings around him on the simulator. Taylor kept his attention mostly to flying until he landed the shuttle onto the docking platform. The question that Lillian had asked had somewhat set him aback since for a man who usually planned ahead he never had thought about what he wanted to do. However a kiss from Lillian was always welcome.

“Well, Kat and Nayla are planning to get drunk and no doubt start a fistfight Vega Station style so we'll probably be bailing them from jail to hand over to our security guys. Dariak and Aria are doing something cultural related and James...has decided to stay on the ship. Part of me is happy to see him again I mean he's practically my brother but seeing him in that black armour...”

The marine trailed off as he stood up and smiled at Sareth, patting on the head before opening the hatch. Immediately he was greeted by the glaring sun and tropical heat that the planet had to offer and right away he wished he was encased in his marine armour that would help regulate his temperature. Seems like he was going to have to do it the old fashioned way. “Besides I'll probably find trouble if I went alone and I don't think Elena needs me as a patient again. So...family day for now?”

"Good answer," Sareth told Taylor, beaming.

Lillian chuckled at Sareth as she smiled at the answer and leaned up to kiss Taylor again. "Good. I say beach and then we can join Marlo at the cafe around here that she's going to try out. I'm not swimming though...I have a feeling that people around here would frown on seeing a pregnant woman in a bathing suit. Still, I can stake out the beach for wedding purposes and you and Sareth can build a sand castle."

The prospect of getting to hang out with her boys was really making Lillian feel happier and relaxed and after the morning she and Taylor had shared, she needed it. Besides, this was supposed to be a happy next four days for her and she wanted to make the best of them with her family. Taylor was happy, Sareth was happy, and Lillian was feeling far less stressed already on this beautiful planet.

"Besides, I think the beach is a good way to make up for you not feeling the baby kick yet," Lillian said, laughing a little bit. "Sareth even almost felt it."

Sareth smiled and nodded. "It's a boy."

"It could still be a girl," Lillian reminded him. "You and Daddy will find out at the same time."

"I know," Sareth said nodding and deciding to change the subject for now. "Can I bury you in the sand too, Daddy?"

"Yeah, Papa Bear...can Baby Bear bury you in the sand so that Momma Bear can take a picture of it?" Lillian giggled, scrunching up her nose happily.

At the mention of 'beach' Taylor seemed to inwardly groan at the prospect of being buried by Sareth in sand. He had a particular loathing of the stuff considering he hated the way it just got everywhere. Every joint in the armour, every nook in a phaser and every cranny on a shuttle would end up getting filled with the stuff at one whip of the wind. “I hate the sand.” he said finally like a child who had dropped his ice cream. He folded his arms over to show that he wasn't going to budge on the matter. “I don't like sand or tropical heat and this planet has both. It's like Risa or Vulcan. This is why I like Betazed...rolling hills, gentle summers and no sand for miles. Besides I'm not exactly dressed to get buried up to my neck now am I? A sand castle however I most certainly will do.”

(A filler since I'm swamped with paperwork O_o)

"I like the way it feels," Sareth said with a shrug. "Besides, it's easy to wash off, isn't it?"

Laughing a little Lillian rustled his hair. "Papa Bear is as stubborn as a mule."

"Like you?" Sareth teased, scrunching up his nose with a smile like Lillian did.

"Yes, like me, only ten times worse," Lillian said, she and Sareth making mock shocked faces and then giggling before Lillian turned to Taylor and smiled a little bit leaning up on the balls of her feet. "How about we pretend we like sand for just a little bit and then I..." she began to whisper rather naughty things in his ear so Sareth couldn't hear them before she pulled back a little and nipped at his earlobe, pulling back more to look him in the eye and wrap her arms around him. "Besides, we're getting married here in three days and I don't want you to hate a single thing about it..."

That being said, Lilian nuzzled Taylor's nose with hers and then kissed him lovingly, keeping it sweet and deep and then pulling back a little and giving his lips a gentle peck. She smiled because she was rather sublimely happy, and ran her hand down his arm to his hand, letting their fingers interlace as she held his hand in hers, Sareth grabbing onto Taylor's other hand.

"Beach it is," Lillian told them, leading the way, getting a nice spot far enough away she wouldn't get wet, but could still get her feet in the tide. "Now...impress me with sand castles!"

“Yeah but it gets everywhere.” explained Taylor to Sareth in a last ditch attempt to fend off the crushed rock tomb that Sareth obviously had planned for him. “Gets in your phaser components, gets in your clothes, between your toes. Even gets right up into your-” He stopped dead at finishing that sentence before giving Lillian a placating smile. After all there was no real need to explain to his stepson the really difficult places sand could get. Then Lillian threw a rather delicious curve ball that made his concentration buckle as a blush crossed his face as if sunburn had taken its toll. He felt defeated, outflanked and outgunned at this moment in time so he simply nodded and sighed as she pulled away.

“Yay. Sand.” said the marine in his most henpecked voice. Walking with his family along the beach it became clear why people would feel this was something of a paradise. Unlike Risa it wasn't overly packed nor did it have the same 'too shiny to be clean' look about it. In fact it looked like a real planet with real people where Risa had simply been geared towards a pleasure planet. The roaring sun bet mercilessly down on the beach goers which considered of people playing sports in the sand to overly muscular men trying to impress the local women with their show of flesh and of course, people enjoying the water. Taylor grimaced at this and wondered what kind of wildlife lived in the water. Probably sharks. Big, alien sharks.

Searching in his backpack Taylor produced a water bottle and handed it to Sareth. “Here, you'll need water to mould the sand. Have you...given much thought about your trials?”

Within the hallowed halls of history a Vulnian wandered the halls rather mystified at the planet's culture and history. Given that it wasn't probably the most popular building for tourists it had attracted the attention of Starfleet officers who had taken interested in such a thing and of course, Dariak. Vulnians had something of a love for artwork and Dariak had been staring at the same painting for almost an hour now, a seven foot pillar of muscle in Vulnian casual dress which was little more than a t-shirt with some fine cut cotton trousers. The painting was one of a landscape, of the jungle sunset which seemed to have a fiery hue. It was an amazing piece of work and worthy of any artist. Dariak had cupped his chin, unsure of where Aria had wandered off to. She was another piece of art he could admire for hours; the redheaded rescued Borg drone who was also the squad's medic. She might have worn a blue uniform, much like Nayla's grey but Dariak had considered her every bit of a marine as say, Kat or Taylor. As for James he wasn't sure what to make of him. Apparently he was a close friend of Taylor's yet something about him rubbed the alien warrior the wrong way.

Looking around the museum, Aria found herself committing everything she was looking at to memory, even though she knew a lot about the culture here. This culture had been assimilated into the Collective while she was a part of it and so she knew a lot about the people and the art...she just knew that such things made people nervous. She was avoiding talking about anything about it in much depth for fear of scaring Dariak off or any of the other officers that were also looking around the place.

Still, she figured she should get back to him.

Aria was dressed in dark pants and a thin, off the left shoulder sweater blouse (her right had a small implant and a scar from her disconnection from the Borg), her hair loose and fiery, her shoes flat and comfortable. Because she sent people running for the hills with her implants, she was wearing long sleeves despite the heat and had her bangs styled in front of her implanted eye--she didn't particularly wish to have a confrontation that day. Walking back over to Dariak, she stood close to him and she smiled a little bit, something she was sure that the Vulpine was getting used to as he brought it out in her...among other things.

"Fond of it?" Aria asked him, gesturing to the painting.

"I'd like to do them," Sareth said gently, starting to work with the sand. "Momma's going to worry though."

Lillian sat up a little bit. "Taylor, did you just think about alien sharks?"

The idea of this place having shark-like wildlife made her stomach churn a little bit, her resting her hand on it gently and smiling as the baby moved, trying to change her position. It was almost impossible to get comfortable these days, but she figured that eventually the kid had nowhere to go but out and then she'd be able to get as comfortable as she pleased. She smiled a little bit though, letting the boys get back to their conversation even though she did worry and she would probably go crazy when Sareth did this.

He wanted to honor his dead father and make his other grandparents happy and Lillian got that, but she also understood that he wanted to do it for himself. Sareth had been giving it a lot of thought and he wanted to be part of Vulcan society someday and so he was going to go through with this. It also gave him a chance to get to know Taylor even better because he wanted Taylor to help him to prepare, seeing as how he had no idea about surviving in the wild as he was only 5.

"Grandma Leona thinks you and I can camp in the Hollodeck..." Sareth said slowly. "I don't think we should leave Momma alone for a night or two until after the baby comes, but I'd like to train with you somehow."

With that, he started to build the castle up, messing up one of the pieces, but working on a different piece with a blush on his face. He had never made a sand castle before, but he had seen them and made castles out of other materials before and he had Taylor. Smiling at that, he handed Taylor one of the sand shovels he'd made his mother get him for this planet and then looked up at his dad.

"I don't know how much fun a wedding in this heat is going to be," Sareth said shaking his head. "I got to see Momma's dress though--it's very pretty, you should see it."

For a moment Dariak was so lost in the painting that he barely registered Aria speaking at all before he turned to her and gave a smile, his grey eyes holding a light of fondness and joy at seeing her again. Then her words caught up to him and he gently nodded before turned back to the painting. “Well, I came from a planet entirely covered in jungle so in a way this is more like home than most planet's I've been to. Of course the coastline is very Tonyarri, the Vulnians there are of a tropical nature...all topless with large shark teeth necklaces. Very good fighters and even better fishermen. The food there is, well, delicious.” The heat wasn't affecting Dariak as much given his enhancements but soon even he would have to take on water and perhaps seek shelter in a shaded area. Of course the air conditioning of the building made it more of a bearable situation.

Taking her hand Dariak walked around before talking one last look at the painting before milling around rather aimlessly. “I do miss Iskur sometimes...the purple skies when the sun sets is like the Old Gods painted the sky with a brush for that very moment. However I did enjoy Earth, they were...most receptive of me. Until they learned on the enhancements that my people use on themselves to protect our Empire. All apart from the Marine Corps of course....their duty to their mission and to their unit is something I find rather lacking in Starfleet. They feed off of the hate of the...fleeters as they describe them. So tell me, how are you finding this squad?”

"I would like to see this home world of yours someday," Aria told him, smiling a little when he took her hand and listening to him speak. "I grew up on a colony before the Borg attacked. It was winter 7 out of the 12 months so I was far more accustomed to snow. Borg vessels are humid because such an atmosphere enhances the implants...I am not sure how I would fair in cold weather anymore..."

She trailed off, losing herself in thought for a moment and thinking back on the memories that she remembered from her childhood. Aria remembered ice skating and snow, but she didn't think that she would be fit to do such things anymore--it had been far too long since she had strapped on a pair of skates and gotten on the ice...something she had done so often with her parents. Shaking the thoughts away, she focused on Dariak's other words and let her thumb run along his hand affectionately as she held it.

"I find the squad welcoming and understanding, you especially," Aria responded with a nod. "I expected more hostility. A few on the ship would rather I go back to the Collective and will not give me blind trust, but I cannot fault them for that. I am curious about Corden...I have been researching him since he set foot on board."

“No...” said Taylor with his most innocent face as he attempted a white lie to Lillian. To attempt his trick of using a rush off emotion to keep Lillian from reading his mind then it would only serve to confirm that he did indeed mention the words 'alien sharks' Instead he kept a straight face and tended to the sand castle construction, kneeling down beside Sareth's forming sand fortress. Taking the shovel he poured some water to soak the sand to make it something more manageable. Gently Taylor began to build a wall using the small shovel and a hand. While he was worried about Sareth going off to face his trials he respected the kid's description and had taken it upon himself to train Sareth if he so wanted. Taylor had seen, walked and fought within every single environment this universe had to offer including the dreaded Y-Class. He was a well travelled man with many skills in how to survive in some of the most difficult conditions as well as operate efficiently as a member of a combat unit.

“I think that's a wonderful idea.” said the marine fondly as he finished the wall around the main castle structure. “I’m sure mum will be fine for a couple of days, she's a tough bird and not even a child is going to clip her wings. Besides, you have a lot to learn and traversing the Vulcan desert is not an easy task. I've told you many times I had to do it during marine survival training which was no real picnic. Main trick is to rest up somewhere at day and move at night when the air is cooler, of course the lack of cloud cover can mean you're freezing. It'll be better if we did a little camping trip in the Forge, huh? See if you can't learn some tricks off of an old dog.”

Taylor continued to build the outer parts of the castle, even beginning the construction of a tower. “It's bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony. I'll just wait to see her on the day. As for the heat...well, we can see about getting some shelters put up to give everyone some shade. I'm not getting burnt to a crisp on my wedding day.”

“Next time we get some good amount of leave time I'll take you there. I'm sure you'll find my people rather welcoming and kind hearted.” beamed the Vulnian warrior who wandered through the halls of ancient history and culture. “I could guide you through the jungle and perhaps we could have our own little excursion, some rock climbing...a little swim in a lake with a bottle of something?” Dariak spoke with a purr-like sound as he pulled Aria just a little bit closer to him. To him tactile contact was rather important especially with Aria. Yes their relationship wasn't exactly by the book with him being an officer and her a member of the enlisted ranks but Taylor had more or less turned a blind eye to it with the instruction of at least remembering the rules during missions. While Dariak found the idea of keeping his emotions under control if Aria got into some form of trouble. Then again they both had to be in that situation to see if it actually happened.

It felt good to be accepted by a unit, to be part of their bond and for them to trust you with their very lives. “Given that the team cannot be particularly picky about who they trust it is more of a necessity than a simple act of trust. However you need to remember that Colonel Lucas took time and care in selecting us for this unit. The Fenris houses both his wife-to-be and his stepson and therefore he would look for those with the greatest skills to protect his family and the crew. I read in his file that he commanded a similar squad within Starbase Seven as well as the overall marine company there to great effect. However they seemed to take a bit of a loss during the Sigma III mission. As for Staff Sergeant Corden...well, he is an enigma. While his combat and marine record is as extensive as the colonel's..being in the same Spaceborne Ranger unit as him, his recent return to Starfleet is somewhat a surprise given it was after the same mission he left.”

Sareth smiled at Taylor and nodded. "At least there's water. Why is it bad luck to see a dress?"

He was genuinely curious about his stepfather's culture and continued building the castle with him before a shadow overlooked part of it, making him look up to see his mother standing there. She had wanted to relax while the boys had their fun, but with such a belly she was finding it practically impossible to sit still and she knew it was just going to get worse--she was only six months pregnant, after all. Still, she held out her hand for Taylor's, the other on her stomach.

"Your child is finally being active enough for you to," she paused and closed her eyes as the baby kicked, "feel it kick. I can't sit still over there, it won't allow it."

At first she gave him a look like she was annoyed that he'd done this to her, but she smiled a little too because it meant they could finally feel the baby kick. Obviously it knew they were on vacation because it wanted its mother to be active and enjoy herself and that didn't mean sunning on the beach while Sareth and Taylor made sand castles. Sareth was genuinely excited too because he hadn't felt any kicks yet and had missed it the other day, standing up and reaching out to touch his mother's stomach.

"Does he move around as much as I did, Momma?" Sareth asked her, letting her guide his hand to the spot to feel.

Lillian laughed a little bit. "It could still be a girl and you didn't give me this much trouble until month 7, keeping me awake at night. Both of you feel right here..."

Whenever Dariak made that purring sound, it sent a pleasant shiver down Aria's spine and she turned to face him, resting her body against his gently. It had to seem odd to others to see the young woman with such a bigger man, because even though Aria was tall, she was slender and Dariak was genetically enhanced and taller with a larger muscle mass. She didn't mind though, brushing her hair out of her eye absentmindedly to reveal her cortical node even though she'd been hiding it.

"I believe I would find rock climbing enjoyable if it were to be with you," Aria responded tenderly. "I still do not understand why you have chosen to be affectionate with me of all the choices you have of the opposite sex, but I am grateful and I wish to show you the same affection. In exchange for visiting your world, I would like to take you ice skating."

She nodded gently and then thought over what he was saying about James and tried to figure out what it was exactly that was going on there. There were things in the ship's database that she had found and she knew that there had to be more to the story than what they were being told. In fact she did know that there was more to the story because she had gotten into files that she should not have been in.

"The captain and Staff Sergeant Corden also have history with this Doclin," Aria explained to Dariak. "I read in her personal logs that he was a big factor to her becoming captain of the Fenris. I am speaking with her on the subject later on today, but it makes me rather curious."

At first Taylor seemed to ponder why exactly it was bad luck for him to see Lillian in her dress before the big day before shrugging. “It's just one of these things really. Something that's been with humans for generations without any cause. It's like when we break a mirror we suddenly get seven years bad luck. Little more than superstition than anything else.” Smiling he continued on the construction project while he wondered what Sareth would do when he finally reached an age able to select his chosen career path. Should he have gone for something within the Vulcan Science Directorate or perhaps Starfleet, Taylor would have been behind him a hundred percent. If Sareth chose the marines then he'd be somewhat unsure about the idea of that. Taylor's father had objected to him joining the marines because he wanted a son to be like him; a highly successful and very famous doctor who had published dozens of papers. No, Taylor would worry if Sareth would handle being constantly dirty, barely fed and always on the move. He had daily thanked the Corps for feeding him, clothing him, training him and providing a bondship rarely felt elsewhere by giving them over two decades of service.

Looking up at Lillian and pressing his hand against her stomach he could feel a small sliver of movement against his hand and gave her a warm smile. “Certainly has my energy. Soon be old enough to tear apart the relays in the EPS grid. That'll keep Gabe busy when he's not fawning over our CSO...” teased Taylor as he stood up and placed his hands on both of Lillian's hips to peck her cheek gently. “You look beautiful.”

“Because I find you both an attractive and interesting woman. Even if you did not possess your implants I would still find you all the same a woman worthy of my attention. I can only wonder what exactly you see in me, Aria.” replied Dariak with a fond smile which disappeared suddenly at the mention of her looking into Lillian's private logs. He wasn't sure how he felt about that as an officer but as her man, her lover Dariak felt disappointed. Perhaps she was just not used to human privacy given her assimilation or whatever she called it? Either way he felt as the second commander of the squad it was his duty to inform her of her wrong doing.

“I do not think it was prudent to investigate her logs nor ask her about them. They are her logs after all. A diary of sorts.”

|| Idriis, Spaceport
|| Boardwalk Cafe
||April 9, 2388
|| 1327

Idriis had long been an R&R stopover for ship's crews, and so had ample arrangements for recreation throughout the capital city and the planet as a whole. Still, there were plenty of options immediately adjacent to the spaceport for those less inclined to walk too far from their ships. A line of cafes, eateries, and other reasonably classy establishments dotted the walkways of this sector, expensive both because of their proximity to the spaceport and their luxurious views of the beach.

It was afternoon, and so there was a reasonable amount of pedestrian traffic along the walkway's shops and eateries. It was not crowded enough that the noise prevented civilized conversation, but populated enough that such a conversation could still occur with some privacy. One well-appointed cafe featured a few couples engaged in some early morning negotiations, though what exactly they negotiated was anyone's guess.

At one of the cafe's outdoor tables lounged a handsome looking man, his clothes fashionable and his hair roguishly tousled. Most took him to be some rich playboy wandering the galaxy a while before settling down, and his appearance and attitude suggested he did little to discourage such an evaluation. And, true to form, with an avaricious gleam his eyes locked onto the sight of a statuesque Bajoran officer making her way down the boardwalk.

"Hey there, Red!" he called out with a hint of intoxicated confidence, and no wonder given the empty glasses on the table before him; it was an impressive collection, even for a resort town.

"On shore leave, eh? How 'bout you let me buy you a drink and we make it a memorable one? Or one that you can't remember, those are always the best, amiright?" he offered, lounging in his chair and gesturing to the empty seat next to him suggestively.

Marlo looked around, trying to figure out who the man was calling, there were a couple redheads about, but they were presently engaged so she had to assume it was meant for her. As flattered as she was, Marlo still didn't drink, and was spending her time shopping and checking on the crew; it was her duty after all as first officer. She walked over to the blonde man, shaking her head.

"I'm sorry, I don't drink but I'm flattered, really...and by the looks of things you've had too many already."

He snorted contemptuously at the entirety of her statement. "Well then that's your problem! I'm too far ahead! You gotta catch up, Red." The man signaled to the waiter, ordering two of something, and from across the cafe the waiter silently set about retrieving the order.

"Come on, take seat," he continued, with apparent drunken persistence as he gestured to the empty chair at his table. "Tell me all about that big shiny starship of yours! Have you commenced any enjoyable…docking procedures…lately?" he asked with a lecherous grin, displaying a set of perfect white teeth, perhaps not surprising giving the rest of his well-groomed appearance.

Marlo scrunched up her nose...he was obviously not going to take no for an answer, and so she perched precariously on the edge of the seat he'd offered. Something about him irked her, but she couldn't put her finger on it, but he was right;she was on shore leave; she could afford a little relaxation, however she wasn't going to touch a drop a alcohol--wanting to keeps her wits about her.

"It's not that shiny." She admitted. "It's...a little...used."

That was the understatement of the century to say the least.

The man seemed to find that statement incredibly amusing, and by the time he had finished laughing the waiter arrived with two fizzy blue drinks.

"A little used, huh? I hear that," he remarked, with some sort of vague double entendre implied. "I'm a little worse for wear from my travels around the galaxy myself. Time for a pick me up, eh? Don't worry, it's not alcoholic...usually." He slid one of the drinks over to her, and rather surprisingly, carefully sipped a bit his own instead of gulping at it like one might expect him to do. As he set the nearly-full drink down on the table, the man fixed Marlo with a curious grin.

"So how's your love life aboard this battered old crate of a starship of yours?" Clearly he wasn't wasting any time.

Marlo frowned. She didn't know this man at all--he had no right to ask her that kind of question. She eyed the blue drink wondering whether or not she should try it, considering how had the waiter known to make her a non-alcoholic drink, when the man before her was clearly intoxicated already, before she had sat down.

"I'm sorry...you don't get to ask me something like that. You don't even know my name." She told him coldly.

Something about that made him smirk, and he waved away her disapproval with a flick of his hand. "Come on beautiful, try and keep an open mind. Seems an innocent enough question to me. But we can talk about other things if you like." The man slid the drinks out of the way and put his hand on hers. "How's your career? How's the food on board?" How do you like your co-workers?" The questions were quick, and without apparent interest in an answer.

His air of intoxicated arrogance had disappeared, replaced by a more intense aura of relentless determination, physically evident in his suddenly clenched jaw and steely gaze. The stranger leaned close then, whispering into her ear with an ominously familiar drawl. "How's that lizard of yours…Melon?"

Marlo's eyes went wide as she felt the blood draining from her face. She wrenched her hand away and stood up quickly, backing away from the table. Just the fact that he knew that about her when she could reasonably say that she knew nothing about him could only mean one thing--they'd met before. Then it hit her, the perfect white teeth, the familiar drawl...she knew with full certainty who he was and she knew she should've listened to her gut before.

"Sully."

The handsome features contorted into a sneer. "Guilty as charged. You didn't think anyone here would actually hit on you, did you? Well, you can still tell people you had a date if you like," he said nastily. "But right now we have matters to discuss." His tone changed again, now sounding detached and professional as he reached for his drink and sipped it again.

"So why don't you have a seat and talk with me, Marlo? By which I mean sit down now, or my concealed associate across the way will shoot a micro-point disruptor beam to the back of your spinal cord, dropping you like a sack of spanners," he said casually, but still watched her intently.

"And I am damned unhappy to have to deal with you this way, but you remain obstinately unconvinced of my good intentions in all this and force me to be so…blunt," Sully sighed.

"If you really wanted me to trust you, you wouldn't threaten me at every turn...so I'm not going to sit down, or come any closer, but let's say I do decide to talk with you what then?" Marlo said defiantly.

She crossed her arms across her chest, and turned ever so slightly as she backed up so that her back was against a wall. He didn't seem unhappy in the slightest...in fact he seemed to enjoy his job. She shook her head. How did he keep finding her, and why didn't he leave her alone? He had to have more promising people at his disposal who tolerated...maybe even liked him, so why did he keep hounding her of all people, someone who wanted nothing less then to put a gun to his head and pull the trigger?

"Suit yourself…just don't go getting any ideas about causing a scene." He said the last few words in a loud voice, and at that the half-dozen other patrons of the cafe turned as one and stared coldly at Marlo for a long instant before returning to their apparently mundane conversations, though it seemed likely that they were still monitoring the situation. It was a rare show of force by Sully and his shadowy organization, and it gave a hint as to the gravity of the situation.

He nodded in acknowledgement that the others were in fact his people, and then promptly ignored them as he got down to business. "I'm here today to talk to you about that ship of yours, even if it isn't too shiny. Specifically, it's about your captain. Events of late have cast doubts upon her loyalty to the Federation, and I think you can guess what we do with traitors when we find them." His tone was harsh, dominating; his smile remained pristine.

"Now, that should be enough of an incentive for you: if you don't want Lillian to wind up the victim of an unfortunate 'transporter accident,' then you'll tell me what you know about her recent involvement with this Marshall Frost character," Sully demanded.

"Her involvement with Marshall isn't recent--it's actually really old news. They hadn't spoken since the academy until a couple months ago when he kidnapped Taylor and I to get to her. So why don't you shove your threats up your ass and go get some accurate information?" Marlo growled in a tone so low only Sully could hear her.

"You're cute when you're riled up like that," he responded jovially. "But that's exactly what I'm doing: gathering accurate information from one of my best operatives." Sully clasped his hands behind his head and grinned at her. "Come on now. You must have realized even then that I'd be interested the Doctor's sudden reappearance and contact with the Fenris."

He sniffed. "Now let's stop with the pointless bickering, and you tell me why he wants to get to Lillian so bad that he'll kidnap you and her fiancee and attack a Starfleet vessel and its crew, all according to a carefully designed plan that ultimately fails. Lucky break for you all, maybe? Because it all sounds a little suspicious to me, how he had her in his power but she miraculously escaped at the end. I really want to hear you say that she's not secretly working for him, I really do, but I sometimes wonder if all this isn't a big act to make us think that he's the only one we have to worry about…" he said as a slight frown creased his surgically created good looks "…when we really have another traitor in our midst."

There were things Marlo didn't understand, like why when they got the Fenris, Lilly had disappeared without reason, and once again left her son with his grandparents, but she sure as hell wasn't going to tell Sully any of this. She would talk to Lilly about it, but with all the distrust of Sully, the one person she actually wanted to kill, and would probably be okay with it. She shrugged nonchalantly, keeping her expression level, so Sully couldn't read into anything.

"I don't know why Marshall does anything. I didn't even really talk to him back when I knew him. Why don't you ask Marshall? You seem to have unlimited resources and if anyone could find him it's probably you. But believe me when I say we don't have a traitor in our midst when it comes to Lilly."

Sully just nodded, seeming to accept the part about Lillian for the time being. "It's not that we can't find Marshall…it's that we're not sure we should. I don't want to back him into a corner and have him do something really drastic. We just don't have a clear idea of what his goals are. It can't just be murder and mayhem…there's got to be something more." He frowned, tapping a finger to the side of his head for a moment before snapping out of it.

"Here." He withdrew a small vial from his pocket and tossed it onto the table. "Take it, but be careful. Give it to Lillian and don't let her open it except from behind a level 5 containment field. It's an antigen designed to counteract that plague that hit Betazoid recently." He held up a hand to forestall questions. "Don't start nagging me about why we didn't use it to help all those poor sick people. It's unstable. Reports say it triggers excessive production of antibodies and the person gets killed by their own immune system instead of the disease" Sully grunted irritatedly.

"It's someone's idea of a sick joke, promising that as an antidote, and I've got a good idea whose joke it was. I need Lillian to look at it and confirm it was his handiwork." As he glumly said these words, Sully rested his chin on a hand and gazed blankly at the vial on the table, seemingly lost in thought.

"Unless you can promise me that it won't harm her, her unborn child, her son, her fiance, me, our crew, or our ship...no." Marlo shook her head defiantly.

She hadn't even made the slightest movement like she was going to take the vial, and remained up against the wall, arms folded across her chest. As much as she wanted this conversation over with so she could go back to her shopping, until she had full assurance that it wouldn't harm anyone, Lilly wasn't even going to get it until Marlo herself ran some tests on it. She didn't trust Sully's word as far as she could throw him.

"Well, the crew and the fiancee might be all right," he offered dully. "And as for her kids, born and unborn, well…50-50 chance. But given that it was concocted by the good doctor Frost, I'd say it is very likely harmful to Lillian and telepaths in general." There was no real malice or intensity in his voice, just a matter of fact statement.

"Hence the recommendation for a containment field. I want to know why it won't act as a viable counter to that plague like he said it would, and she has the most experience with Frost's work...including some first hand cooperation with him, I hear," Sully added wryly. "So be a good girl and take it please. If she's as loyal to the Federation as you say then she should jump at the chance to work on a real counter to Frost's plots."

"Besides…" he mused, letting his eyes drift up to meet hers. "…would you prefer I pay Lillian a visit to deliver it to her in person?"

Marlo snorted in contempt. "Even if I said no, which is absolutely true, I honestly don't think that would stop you. It hasn't before. However, I'm sure she would love to see you again, possibly to punch you in the face; She hates you almost as much as I do. Now if you'll excuse me, I would rather be anywhere but here."

Marlo rolled her eyes, as she forced an obviously fake smile onto her face, not bothering to hide her contempt for the man in front of her. She picked up the vile between two fingers, like it was something disgusting, as well as retrieving her shopping bags, and left as fast as she could.

Sully grinned, and called out jovially to her retreating backside. "Always a pleasure, my dear!" After a moment he snapped his fingers and gestured to Marlo's rapidly disappearing figure. Two nondescript people arose from one of the few occupied tables in the cafe and briskly strode down the walkway after her, following at a reasonable distance for a short while to see her safely out of the area.

Meanwhile Sully leaned back in his chair and shifted around until he was comfortable. With a free hand he pulled both his drink and Marlo's untouched beverage closer, and got to work on both of them. After a few sips, he sang happily a few verses of song, oblivious for a moment to everything around him and the cares of the wider galaxy.

"In some secluded rendezvous
That overlooks the avenue
With someone sharing a delightful chat
Of this and that
And cocktails for two"

Laughing at the irony of the verse in the context of the meeting that had just occurred, he took a deep drink from both glasses in turn and decided to lounge in the sun for a good while. Idriis seemed to have that effect on people.
