Lydia/Kalen - Chat about the past

Lydia had just discovered Kalen's past. She read the basics on everyone, but realized that wasn't going to be good enough. She asked Kat to inform Kalen that he needed to see her soon. More like now, but everyone had duties to do. She couldn't believe that she had missed it. She needed to know that he wasn't going to do anything stupid. She was pacing her office, reading the file again.

Kalen had got the summons to the counselor's office and shrugged his shoulders. The last time he'd gone to the counselor he'd ended up coming out with a beautiful woman to date. He wondered what on Earth the new one could wish with him. He'd been evaluated so many times, he was sure that Lydia knew all about him. And the fact that she was Alyssa's cousin made things a lot more difficult. He remembered he wasn't supposed to talk about their family or he and Alyssa's relationship or other such nonsense. He walked down the corridors and entered the office, waving to Kat at the desk. He was expected so he chimed Alyssa's old office door and smiled softly. He wondered if her balls were still in the desk. That would make him laugh, to see Lydia playing with them as Alyssa had. He waited for the door to be answered as he twiddled his thumbs.

She breathed. She didn't know how he would react to her talking about his parents. She knew that not everyone was like Alyssa, but she also knew that everyone talked about things in their own way.

"I know what happened to your parents. Understand that our ex-borg is trying to re-enter human society." Lydia spoke, trying express her concern. "Are you going to do anything to our crew member?"
